The Ionian Islands consist of the seven main islands of Cephalonia, Corfu or Kerkyra, Ithaki or Ithaca, Kythira, Lefkada or Levkas, Paxos or Paxi and Zakynthos. There are a further 22 islands most of which are situated in the sea area enclosed by Levkas and Cephalonia to the west and the Greek mainland to the east with the exception of Antipaxi, Mathraki, Othonoi, Ereikoussa, Diaplo, which are to be found at the northern tip of Corfu, with the Island of Vidos sitting to the east of Corfu town.

Other islands of note in the Ionian group are Antipaxi, Skorpios, Meganisi, Skorpidi, Kalamos and Kastos.

The mainland towns of Parga, Igoumenitsa, Mourtos, Preveza, Palairos or Zaverda and Patras are all accessible on the west coast.
